The Pecan Grove VFD Community Relations Division is responsible for public education on fire safety issues. Public Information Officers respond to all major emergency scenes. They act as an official source of information to the news media and work with displaced families to receive assistance from The American Red Cross and other governmental agencies.
The Community Relations Committee also offers fire station tours and public appearance of apparatus at special events. The list below describes the options available. Due to the demand in responding to emergency calls and number of Community Relations requests, we must adhere to the following procedures below. Please carefully read the different types of events in which we are able to schedule.
The request must be submitted at least two(2) weeks prior to the event. If interested in scheduling an event, please read the below options and click on the button below and fill out the Community Relations Request form with the details of your event. Once the request is received by the Community Relations Committee, one of our representatives will contact you to schedule your event.

Station Tours
Tours need be scheduled a minimum of two(2) weeks prior to event to allow stations to plan events and training. No station tours will be conducted on Tuesday nights as those nights are designated as departmental training. Tours will consist of a safety discussion by a firefighter, and quick tours of the station, and a look at the fire apparatus. Tours can last for a half hour, depending on the size of your group. During this time, the crews are in service meaning if an emergency arises, they will need to leave.

Public Appearances
Fire Department apparatus can come to approved schools, churches and public events. Firefighters are available to teach fire safety issues and talk about rewarding careers in the Fire and Emergency Medical Service.

Junior Firefighter Obstacle Course
Has your child ever said they wanted to be a Firefighter? Do they run to the windows and curbside when Firetrucks go by with sirens and lights going off? Pecan Grove Volunteer Fire Department offers a chance for children to participate in our Junior Firefighter Obstacle course. Our course consists of kid friendly obstacles that mimic different tasks that Firefighters do on the job. Please click here for all information and requirements needed to schedule our obstacle course.

Schools
With October being national fire safety month, this is when we typically schedule visits to elementary schools. The fire crews will give educational presentations and demonstrate the apparatus until all classes have gone through. These events are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Please submit your school's request as soon as possible.

Please understand that we are a working fire department. There will be times that we may not be able to attend your scheduled function or have to leave early due to an emergency. We hope you understand and want to thank you for your continued support.
